Well, we got a new puppy! Yeah!! Then night rolled around and we put the puppy in his kennel and he cried all night long. No one slept a wink those first few nights. I know some people say to get an old style clock and the ticking sound will comfort the puppy. I never really liked that idea because I was worried that the puppy would break the clock and accidentally swallow a piece of it. I happened upon this Snuggle Puppy and thought it was worth a try and seemed less risky than a clock. Well, let me tell you... he loves his puppy! I guess it didn't help that he was from a littler of 13 but having a "puppy" with a heartbeat that he could rest his head on actually made him feel better.
I'm very happy I decided to give this little guy a try.

We ordered a second brown mutt and very surprised by the quality. It seemed like a knock-off - Velcro wasn’t well sewn in, nose and eyes looked different - but the worst part was how loud the heart was compared to our first. We could hear it across the room and drove us crazy. I measured the dB to confirm - the new heart was ~75 dB while the old was ~55 dB.
We ordered the Biscuit as a replacement and got the same quality as the first.
If you receive one in the white & red box with a fluffier nose (left in my comparison photo), you’ve gotten the older version with the louder heart that we’d rate 2 stars given poor build quality + loud heartbeat. But the newer model gets a strong 5-star buy from our household and pup.

Ordered the brown mutt for our new pup and worked great. Really calmed her in the crate and seemed well made.

This is an amazing invention. Honestly, I was a bit hesitant because of the cost, but I did not want our new puppy to have anxiety issues the first night away from his litter/mom. We bought this ahead of picking up our puppy, and on the day of - we placed it among all the litter mates to play with and then the breeder rubbed it on the mom. On the drive home, we placed the puppy inside a puppy crate with the snuggle puppy and a towel with our scent on it - he did not even cry once. Then, once home we placed the snuggle puppy inside his crate and he would return to it every so often in between eating/playing/sniffing his closed off area in the kitchen. At night, we moved the crate into our bedroom, guided the puppy into the crate with a treat (positive reinforcement), and he snuggled up against the snuggle puppy. I am stunned to report that he did not even cry, not once. We woke him up at 2am and then at 5:30am to walk him (pre planned potty breaks for the night), and each time we would walk him back to the crate with a treat and he would settle in with snuggles. We placed a hand warmer inside along with the heartbeat, and it works wonders. Tip - the dollar store has six AAA batteries, for a dollar. Today, he has been active and engaged - but when tired he walks himself to his crate (in the kitchen during the day) and settles in (we are leaving the door open during the day for him to come in and out of the crate). If you have any hesitation at all - I say go for it. It is his favorite toy, and will stay with him for a long time to come.

I ordered this just a tad too late and received it on the day after we initially brought our puppy home. As such, it allows me to have a comparison of what it was like with and without the Snuggle Puppy. The first night of having my puppy, neither of us got any real sleep! I am crate training my pup and she cried terribly throughout the night trying to adjust to being without her littermates while also in a new place with new people. That first night also resulted in potty breaks every 1.5 hours AFTER bed time. The next day the Snuggle Puppy arrived. I stuck to the same feeding/watering routine and the same in/out schedule for her crate. Just before bed time I took her for potty, returned her to the crate for bed time at 10:00 PM and turned on the Snuggle Puppy. She mildly whimpered (no crying or yelping) for less than 1.5 minutes and settled in with the Snuggle Puppy. The next thing I know it was 6am! She had not cried through the night and also did not alert for potty breaks. On night 3 I repeated the pattern and again she remained quiet and comfortable with the Snuggle Puppy from 10PM to 5:45 AM. Last night, was a small break from the norm in which she went into her crate at 10PM without a single whimper, however she cried at midnight in need of a potty break. She was returned to the crate and Snuggle Puppy thereafter and once again not a peep from her until 6am this morning. This item has worked wonders to ease my puppy into it's new environment and crate training pattern. My puppy will be 9 weeks old on 3/7/17. PLEASE NOTE: I did not implement the use of the warming pack; I only used the heartbeat gadget.

Best thing ever for my elderly cat! I have a 16yr old tabby who had a lot of heart issues and discovered this toy through friends that were using it for their puppy. I decided to get one for my cat since she sleeps on my chest most nights and enjoys my heartbeat. There is a “heartbeat cat” that costs $10 more and it’s not like my cat knows the difference, so I got the dog version for cheaper. It’s super plushy and soothing. There is a Velcro pouch in the stomach where you pull out the plastic heartbeat device. The heartbeat part comes with 2 AAA batteries and they truly did last 2 weeks of 24/7 “heart beating.” I really appreciated how it came with an easy battery type to replace vs some obscure hard to find watch battery etc. You will need a small screw driver to open the heartbeat and remove the tape to allow the batteries to connect. Once the heartbeat is placed back into the stomach area of the stuffed toy, it truly feels like a real heartbeat! I leave this on my bed and my elderly cat sleeps next to it all day and it’s really helped her stay comfortable and keep her blood pressure down where it needs to be with her heart issues. It also is nice to keep her company while I’m at work for 8hrs each day. Best purchase I could of got for her final years. HIGHLY recommend.

We got this for our 13 year old cat. He's the the absolute friendliest, most snuggly cat out there. Except his cuddly demands turns him into a raging lunatic at night when he wants someone to snuggle. Taking him to bed with us isn't an option, since he has a tendency to push people off couches and beds, or sleep directly on our faces. This is to say: he will kill us in the middle of the night if we let him. With cuddles. Killing with cuddles sounds like the best way to die, except we're just not ready for that yet. Plus we still wouldn't be able to sleep. So no. He does not get bedroom privileges.
In the meantime, he gets lonely in the middle of the night and yeowls like he's in heat. Perhaps he identifies as female. We don't appreciate it. And we don't want another cat to keep him company. He's enough. Our sleep often suffers horribly, however, and we needed a fix. 13 years of sleep deprivation has caused us to resort to desperate measures.
We considered cannabis. Or kitty ativan. That is supposed to knock you right out, right? We tried taking him to a pub to get some whiskey therapy with the bartender. He came home crying and puked in my husband's shoe. We sent him to a therapist. Apparently they don't treat cats. Biased, racist jerks.
So we ordered this thing. We have reuseable mini rice handwarmers that we heat up at night. He seemed unsure of it at first, but what do you know. He has shutup at night. After being given his nightly kitty crack (AKA gooshy food), we turn on the dead, floppy puppy's mechanical heart and heat up its insides and place it on his favorite spot on the couch. When we sneak off to bed, we hear nothing. No yelling. No knocking every single thing he can off the counters. No chasing ghosts in the hallway and running up the walls. No crying. Just silence. So much silence that we have had to get up in the night to check on the little bastard to make sure he's still alive. Apparently we like him enough to check. But there he is every time, snuggling the dead floppy puppy with tremendous purrs and kitteh raspberries.
Until the dead puppy's heart stops every morning, that is, but it's usually just in time for food anyways.
At least we have silence. He is happier, and so are we. Not only are we enjoying more sleep, but we are confident knowing our lives are saved for just a little longer. His, too.

This Snuggle Puppy saved my sanity!
Reviewed in Canada on February 4, 2019Color: BrownVerified Purchase
First night with a brand new 8 week old puppy in a brand-new house. What do you expect? Most people spend the night without an ounce of sleep as puppy whines and barks and paws at their crate door. With the snuggle puppy, my actual puppy didn't make a peep! A solid night's sleep for mommy and daddy! Thank you! Fast forward a month- my puppy is terrified by a windstorm creating all sorts of odd noises she hasn't heard yet. I turn on snuggle puppy (who is always sleeping in her crate) and she stops crying immediately and falls back asleep. What a lifesaver! She is four months old now and has begun to haul the snuggle puppy out of her crate to play with during the day. She is often seen sleeping with it and this literally was worth every penny of the $40 I spent on it. Would recommend this to anyone with a dog.

I liked the concept of this puppy toy but unfortunately the design is incredible dangerous for the purpose. The product is intended to comfort your pup at night or when you are away so it is a toy that would supposedly require no supervision. Nevertheless I decided to monitor my pup with the toy at first. I'm glad I did. Within about 5 mins of play she pulled the nose off and proceeded to try and swallow it. The nose is just the right size to block the windpipe.
It was disappointing as I had high hopes for the product. The heart function is good but unfortunately I would not advise unsupervised play with this product which unfortunately defeats the object of it.
If the design of the toy was changed in the future to be safer I would consider buying it again but for now, far too unsafe.

I have had this product less than a week and its nose came off during the night. My dog who is ten weeks old has swallowed it whole and then threw it up this morning. This was quite stressful for him. At first we didn't know what it was. I was panicking as he was distressed and thought something was up with my pup. Only on closer inspection my husband said it looks like hair. Left it on the side in a food bag as not sure until having a play with it. It is the nose all in one with the string attached looking like a mouse tail. I never review items like this but am quite upset that I put this in my dogs crate to comfort my puppy overnight thinking it was a safe product. But this could have been a choking hazard.

We put Xanax (name given to this toy, due to its Anti-anxiety claims) in Poppy’s crate so that they bonded straight away. Being roughly about the same size she was definitely a little unsure at first, but this soon passed and they’re definitely good crate buddies now!!
The less good parts...
The heartbeat feature - it’s not feint, shall we say, even when she was in crate at side of our bed 6ft away, it was a very prominent noise.
Heat pack - not used due to how hot the weather has been but a bit of a swizz that it’s a one time use!
